DSI impounds 60 supercars, mostly Lamborghinis | Bangkok Post: news

(Photo by Patipat Janthong)The Department of Special Investigation (DSI) impounded 60 luxury cars, mostly Lamborghinis, from Bangkok showrooms on Thursday on suspicion of evasion of import taxes and other tariffs. DSI officials also searched Pongsri Apartment in Bang Kapi district, house No.8/47 in tambon Thai Ban Mai of Muang district in Samut Prakan, house No.335/382 on Srinakarin Road in Hua Mak area of Bang Kapi, house No.49 on Soi Ramkhamhaeng 54 in Hua Mak area in Bang Kapi, and house No.267/13-14 on Soi Sukhumvit 63 in Watthana district. Some of the searched houses belonged to an accountant working for the importer, Niche Cars Group, and its director. Investigators concluded it was part of an illegal operation taking luxury cars to remote provinces where they could be more conveniently registered with the aid of Land Transport officials.
